TMDXICE110: Evaluation board issue

Part Number: TMDXICE110
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AMIC110

Hi,

We are using TMDXICE110 dev board for production purpose.

We worked with 3no.s of board, all the board got power issues after a couple of days.

Power supply was driven from RPS 5V/2A.

Board 1 -

  • High Temperature measured on Power Regulator (PMIC) within 30sec of Power ON.
  • Within 2days the IC detection failed.

Board 2 -

  • We were working for 15 days with normal conditions, later the IC detection failed output voltage was short.

Board 3 -

  • We were working for 10 days with normal conditions, later the Power Regulator failed Input and output were short.
  • Changed the power Regulator, 1v8-1 was still in short (AMIC110 power).

Since we are going to replicate the board with some additional changes in it for production purpose,

we need to clarify whether the board design or chosen components has bug.

Could someone suggest whether the board could be used for production purpose or some changes to be done in board which solve the above issue.

Regards,

Akash

  • Hi Akash,

Sorry for the long delay - seems my original post did appear here.

This EVM has been on the market for some time, and this seems to be a failure mode we've not encountered in the past.  Can you tell us if there is anything additional connected to the EVM?  Is the output quality of your power supply decently regulated?

If you would not mind, could you post a photo of the sticker on the edge of the box?  This will have some date codes we can trace, and potentially identify if these came from a new production batch that could have an assembly issue.  We are not aware of any assembly issues, however it is  strange all three of your boards failed with no history of these boards failing in the past.

    Regards,
    Mike
