AM3357: VDD_CORE and VDD_MPU Voltage

Part Number: AM3357

Customer has the following question for AM3357BZCZA80.  The question is in regards to the VDD_CORE signal.

Absolute  max is stated as 1.5V, same as the VDD_MPU

VDD_CORE recommended operating range is 1.056 -1.144V in OPP100 mode

VDD_MPU recommended operating range is 1.056 -1.378V in OPP100 or higher modes

The questions are

  1. Can VDD_CORE operate above 1.144V without repercussions (same as VDD_MPU) even though the speeds are unchanged i.e. up to 1.278. The reason we are asking is that at cold temp our regulator has increased noise+ripple peaking at 1.278
  2. Are the voltages in the core operating performance points Table 3.5  inclusive of noise and ripple or just pure DC voltages?

VDD_MPU and VDD_CORE are tied together in their application

  • 1. No, the core must remain within the limits defined in the datasheet.

    2. You must ensure the voltage applied to the AM335x power pins stay within the limits defined in the datasheet.
