TMS320DM642: The environment for SW development

Customer would like to modify the SW (TI released SW for this product or customer's own SW) which was developed on "WindowsXP + CCS3.x" now.

Are they able to do it on "Wondows10 + latest CCS"?

The answer is yes but it may not be easy.

There are a number of things to consider:

What type of debug probe are they using?
- XDS510 debug probes are not supported in newer CCS versions
Are they using BIOS?
- CCS will have to be pointed to the version of BIOS that they are using
Are they planning on migrating compilers?
- The compiler in CCSv3.x is much older than what ships with CCSv11. I would recommend starting by using the version that ships with CCSv3.x.
Are they using CCS projects?
- If so then they will need to migrate the project to newer CCS. There is a wizard for this in CCS but it really just gets you started. Other changes may be required.

The easiest path would be to run a Windows XP VM on Windows 10 and use CCSv3.x in that environment. However if they do want to move to CCSv11 it is possible but will require effort.
