TMS320C6748: Low temperature primary effects on DSP

Part Number: TMS320C6748

Hello,

As the shortage of components continues, i wonder what are the main effects of sub-zero temperatures on 0-70C rated part like TMS320C6748EZWT4

My guess is that not all sub-blocks will be affected equally and it might be possible to use mentioned part in colder temperatures.

The alternative is to re-design the whole product which is big task.

  • Hi Ergo,

If the TMS320C6748 device is not the Industrial (D suffix) or Extended (A suffix) then the device is not rated to perform below 0C. Per the Datasheet:

"(1) Stresses beyond those listed under "absolute maximum ratings" may cause permanent damage to the device. These are stress ratings only, and functional operation of the device at these or any other conditions beyond those indicated under "recommended operating conditions" is not implied. Exposure to absolute-maximum-rated conditions for extended periods may affect device reliability."
