OMAP-L137: C674X_0: Error connecting to the target: connect to PRSC failed, -6305

Part Number: OMAP-L137
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDSOSKL137, TMDSEMU560V2STM-UE

I procured a new DSP Evaluation board (TMDSOSKL137). While connecting to the target via onboard USB emulator I was getting a error "C674X_0: Error connecting to the target: connect to PRSC failed, -6305".

I was already having the same evaluation board (old one) which is working. I simply replaced the old board with a newly procured board (TMDSOSKL137, 702210 ReV k) and it is showing target connection error.

This problem is related to processor reset.  This I came to know by connecting the target through JTAG external emulator . Then it said the Target device is held in Reset. Then I pressed the reset switch (SW4) given in the board once /twice and tried again to connect the target and then it was connected.

Next I power off the board and removed the external emulator and again tried to connect with the on board USB emulator. Again error message "Error connecting to the target: Connect to PRSC failed, -6305" came . Then I pressed the reset switch given in the board once /twice and tried again to connect the target and then it was connected. All subsequent connection to the target  was no problem.

But once power off the same problem appears again, that mean after every power on during target connection we  need to press the reset switch for the board to be connected.

Now you pls tell me the solution to rectify this issue as my old existing board doesn't show this behaviour.

Pls give me clear solution to my board (TMDSOSKL137) rather than generic links.

Raj Kishore Nayak

  • Hello Raj,

These PRSC error are usually due to some hardware issue with the target. Since your old TMDSOSKL137 board works fine while the new one does not, it seems like some issue with the new board.

This problem is related to processor reset.  This I came to know by connecting the target through JTAG external emulator . Then it said the Target device is held in Reset. Then I pressed the reset switch (SW4) given in the board once /twice and tried again to connect the target and then it was connected.

Yes you would not be able to connect to a core held in reset. Typically cores are released from reset via some initalization routine that can be done via GEL.

One interesting thing is that the issue seems specific to when using the onboard XDS510 emulator. You mentioned that an external emulator worked fine. Which external emulator did you use?

I assume you are using some older CCS version since the last CCS version to support the on-board XDS510 USB emulator is CCS 8.3.1. What exact version are you using?

    Thanks

  • Hi KI,

    Thank you for responding.

yes I am using CCS 8.3.1 and  XDS560 external emulator (TMDSEMU560V2STM-UE)

you misunderstood that my external emulator worked fine. That also requires a manual Reset to be given (by pressing Reset switch SW4).

The external emulator & on board emulator working in same fashion. Both requires after every power On while connecting to the target the Reset switch (SW4) must be pressed.

This behaviour is not there in my old existing board.

Hop this clarifies. Now pls give me solution(if you have any).

  • you misunderstood that my external emulator worked fine. That also requires a manual Reset to be given (by pressing Reset switch SW4).

Thank you for clarification. So the on-board emulation generates PRSC error while with the external emulator you can see the core held in reset.

This behaviour is not there in my old existing board.

You mentioned you have an old board which works fine in the same setup. The only difference is when you try the new board with the same setup (CCS, emulator, etc).

If this is the case, it appears to be some issue with the configuration of the new board and not and issue with the tools.

I will bring this thread to the attention of the device experts for further suggestions.

    Thanks

  • Hi KI,

First of all I thank you very much for paying attention for my issue and showing responsibility towards solving it.

Now you understood clearly.  My old board works fine in the same setup (CCS 8.3.1). The Reset problem only when I try the new board with the existing same setup (CCS, emulator, etc).

Pls bring some device experts for further suggestions
