Hello

We are now in production stage and we would like to burn the eMMC of a custom board based of AM335x starter kit (EVM-SK)

with 2 partitions (a) U-boot and MLO (b) Linux Root FS:

Is it possible to use XDS200 debug probe TMDSEMU200-U to burn the eMMC ?

Hi,

It is not common to use JTAG flashing eMMC, since the eMMC should be partitioned as typical hard drives on computers. It is recommended to boot the board into Linux (using any other boot interface, such as SD card, USB Ethernet or CPSW Ethernet), then flash eMMC within Linux.

What about loading u-boot using the JTAG and then flashing the eMMC?

Hi,

I am not aware of flashing Linux image to eMMC via JTAG, I think the question is how to prepare the raw image file for eMMC.

Hi,

As mentioned we are in production stage so we will use the USB WTH/RNDIS for flashing the eMMC.

But in case of fault in the flashing process, can we use JTAG for recovery and format the eMMC?

I thought I have answered your question.

But if you ask "if you can?", yes, you can use JTAG to flash eMMC if you know how to do it. I am not aware of any established procedure on flashing Linux to eMMC via JTAG though.

In case of failure , we would like to erase the eMMC , by loading u-boot using JTAG
