AM5718: DDP 1CS DDR3 memory vs SDP 1CS memory

Part Number: AM5718
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRA74P

Hi, we are planning to upgrade the system DRAM capacity from total 8Gb to 16Gb. The 8Gb solution was using 2pcs 4Gb x16 DDR3L, to keep PCB unchanged, we have to choose 2pcs 8Gb x16 DDR3L.

The concern is mainstream of the 8Gb x16 DDR3L memories are DDP (dual die package). The ball out are same claimed by supplier(Micron), and it still requires 1CS same as phased-out SDP 8Gb x16 memories.

It looks to us this type of DDP 1CS memory is a drop in replacement to SDP 1CS memory.

Could you double confirm for us? as it conflicts with the statement in TRM  15.1.3

The EMIF module does not support:
• SDRAM devices with more than one die, or topologies which require more than one chip select on a
single EMIF channel
