AMIC110: AMIC110 ICE getting hot and can't connect Emulator

Part Number: AMIC110
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDXICE110, , TPS650250

Hi,

My customer has the connection problem of JTAG ICE Emulator on TMDXICE110 board.

They’ve purchased 5 of AMIC110 ICE boards, but the both XDS200 and XDS110 cannot connect to 2 of these boards. 3 boards could be connected correctly.

Around DC jack got very hot on these 2 boards. They’ve tried several times, but this issue occurred from when they got these boards.

AC adapter which they’re using is 5V, <240mVp-p ripple at 3.0A; (output connector: 2.1-mm ID, 5.5-mm OD barrel plug, center positive)

Have you ever seen the similar issue on AMIC110 ICE ?

Do you know what’s problem ?

Thanks and regards,

Hideaki

  • Hi Hideaki,

For such situations I would check the following things:

    1. Are they using the recommended CUI SMI18-5-V-P5?

    2. Even if not, are they confirming they are getting 5V at the input terminal?

    3. What part is getting hot? The TPS650250 PMIC?

If they are getting 5V in as expected and the PMIC is heating up I would recommend RMAing the boards.

    Best Regards,

    Andrei

  • Hi Andrei,

Thank you for your response. I asked your questions to the customer, and got their feedbacks below.

    1. No, but the AC adapter which they're using is the same spec. and better quality than our recommendation.

    2. Yes, they confirmed.

    3. Yes. Your guessing is correct. PMIC is getting hot.

As mentioned in my previous post, they’ve purchased 5 boards, but 2 of them have this issue from when they got these boards. 3 of them are working correctly.

As you recommended, we'd like to do RMR these boards. Should I ask marketing in BU ?

    Thanks and regards,
    Hideaki

  • Hi Hideaki,

Yes, please reach out to marketing and they should be able to help with the process.

    Best,
