AM3356: U-boot compilation throws error `.u_boot_list' will not fit in region `.sram'

Part Number: AM3356

1. We are having a device which uses TI's Sitara-am335x processor(Part No: AM3356BZCZD60). We are Currently trying to upgrade to new Micron 8Gb:x8 Flash-model (8SC Part No: MT29F8G08ABACAH4-IT:C)
with page size=4096 Bytes, Block size=256K (256*1024 Bytes).

2. Previously we were using Micron Flash with Part No: MT29F2G08ABAEAH4 with page size=2048 Bytes, Block size=128K (128*1024 Bytes).

3. U-boot compilation throws below error when CONFIG_SYS_NAND_ECCPOS  is defined as a 208 Byte array

******Error*******

arm-poky-linux-gnueabi-ld.bfd: u-boot-spl section `.u_boot_list' will not fit in region `.sram'
arm-poky-linux-gnueabi-ld.bfd: region `.sram' overflowed by 400 bytes

  • Hello,

arm-poky-linux-gnueabi-ld.bfd: u-boot-spl section `.u_boot_list' will not fit in region `.sram'
    arm-poky-linux-gnueabi-ld.bfd: region `.sram' overflowed by 400 bytes

The u-boot build error is due to the SPL binary size becomes larger than the on-chip SRAM allocated for SPL.
Some SPL code size optimization needs to be done first to fit the SPL size to on-chip SRAM.
    Best,
