TMDSEMU560V2STM-UE: Know exact use case and differences between TDA4 platform hardware debuggers with series TMDSEMU560V2STM-U and TMDSEMU560V2STM-UE

Part Number: TMDSEMU560V2STM-UE
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDSEMU560V2STM-U,

Hello TI Support Team,

With reference to case number CS0984430,  we are about to procure the Hardware debugger for SK-TDA4 evaluation board, so we gone through the TI references and came to know below details.

SK-TDA4 Evaluation Board Debugger : Part Number : XDS560v2

1) TMDSEMU560V2STM-U:

   Link: https://www.ti.com/tool/TMDSEMU560V2STM-U#tech-docs

2) TMDSEMU560V2STM-UE:

   Link: https://www.ti.com/tool/TMDSEMU560V2STM-UE?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=epd-pro-dsp-prodfolderdynamic-cpc-pf-google-wwe&utm_content=DSP&ds_k=DYNAMIC+SEARCH+ADS&DCM=yes&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI8cO8mpmE9wIVQIxoCR3JZwPKEAAYASAAEgLf5vD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds#tech-docs

So could it be possible to know the exact use case of both these hardware debuggers, as per TI reference we came to know only feature of “Ethernet 10/100Mbps” support is the difference between them.

Prashant Shinde

  • Hello Prashant,
The primary functional difference should be the the etherent connectivity.  These debug boxes were built by two different OEMS (Blackhawk and Spectrum Digital) based on a TI reference design. Along with the TI store, the Blackhawk model/s (usb or usb+enet) can be purchased from their store https://www.blackhawk-dsp.com/products/jtag-emulators.  Note: The TI TDA4 EVMs do include an onboard XDS-110 which provides a lower speed option for debug.

  • Hello Richards

Thanks a lot for your reply.

We gone through the datasheet of XDS-110 platform , and found there is no support for  TI TDA4 SOC from XDS-110 ,so could you please confirm that XDS-110 supporting TDA4 platform. Secondly  as per important factors like speed if we consider so could you please suggest which debugger we should purchase
and which will be more suitable for SK-TDA4 EVM platform

    .

  • Hello Prashant,
The TI-TDA4 EVM's has an onboard XDS-110. So yes it is supported.  In my own usage on TDA4 platforms I have only used the XDS-110 with CCS.  However, the XDS560's do work.  The XDS-560 load and execution speed will be better on the TDA4 platform.  What is most useful for you will depend on which layers of code you will be debugging and your budget.  I've seen people use multiple JTAG debug tools on TDA4 (eg: CCS, Lauterbach, GreenHills, iSystems).
