AM6411: EtherCAT master implementation

Part Number: AM6411

Hi Team,

Would you please teach me CPU minimum requirement to implement EtherCAT master by AM64x family?

How to implement EtherCAT master?

Is it possible to it by AM6411?

Is the OS Linux only on A53?

Thanks and Best regards,

 Kuerbis

  • Hi,

TI does not directly offer EtherCAT master software solutions. But several partners do have EtherCAT solutions for Sitara. See https://www.ti.com/tool/PROCESSORS-3P-SEARCH and industrial protocols tab:

    EtherCAT master  BE.Services www.be-services.com
    EtherCAT master  Acontis www.acontis.com
    EtherCAT master  Codesys www.codesys.com

Codesys is a RT Linux solution, but the other partners do also support RTOS based solutions. Support for the newer Sitara parts like AM64x might not yet be directly announced on their web pages.

The compute performance needed for the EtherCAT master is highly dependent on what application and what kind of performance targets like cycle times are being targeted. AM6411 is sufficient to run Codesys EtherCAT master for the simple examples and longer cycle times.
