I have a product with omapL138 with NAND flash.

We do Nand flash boot, now there's one new Micron Nand(MT29F1G08ABAFAH4) requirement is with 8 bit ECC which we know it do not comply with Freon HW 4 bit ECC.

We are thinking to enable the internal ECC for protection.

Here's the question, in OMAPL138 RBL, what information it will be needed from ONFI, does it matter if the ecc size and spare size read from ONFI is different from what ROMBOOT requirement? The NAND part is ONFI 1.0 compliant, can I still boot up the board with this 8-bit ecc new nand part?

I believe you will need to try this out your self to see if it works.

ONFI compliance requirements are documented in section b.1 on the following application note

We are not evaluating or planning to evaluate newer devices with 8bit ECC etc. So this is something you would need to try out to see compatiblity.
