AM6442: Can CCS + XDS JTAG emulator be Linux aware to debug Linux?

Dear Sir, 

Can we use XDS JTAG emulator plus CCS to debug Embedded Linux on ARM A core and it can be Linux aware with Linux symbol load? 

Customer target is to be able to do single step execution and can link with source code (C code is desired).  

Is this can only achieved on ARM Trace 32 or specific IDE environment?  

Can CCS be the IDE? Or it requires Trace emulator and Trace signals?
