TDA4VM: Load switch TPS22965-Q1 type selection

Part Number: TDA4VM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRA829, , TPS22918

Hi  Ti experts:

PDN: DRA829/TDA4VM Leo2.0 + Hera2.0 PDN-1A, V0.16

In this PDN file,  full type part number is not clarified. We have used TPS22965NQWDSGRQ1 on prototype and TDA4 can work normally, but this part does not contain quick output discharge funcion.

My question:

1. Is quick discharge version necessary in this PDN design? If the answer is yes, please give the full part number. Is there any risk if we use current part TPS22965NQWDSGRQ1

2. Can we use TPS22918TDBVRQ1 insted(with quick discharge )?  In our  TDA4 resource loading evalutaion chat, Load switch only need less than 1A driving capability.

  • 1. Yes, you can use the "No discharge" PN as shown in our EVM SCH, see U6 on pg24 of PROC078ExSCH.  The block diagram shows suggest PNs but SCH & BOM files should be referenced for actual components used on our EVMs.

    2. The TPS22918 load switch is only rated for operational temp range of -40 to +105C which is AEC-Q100 Grade 2 temp range. The '918 PN should not be used if your end product needs to be compliant with AEC-Q100 Grade 1 range of -40 to +125C.  If your end product only needs to support the reduced Grade-2 max T = 105C, then it might be possible. The '918 specs are very similar for switching 2.5 - 3.3V supply voltages with ~1ms longer total turn-on & ramp up elapsed time. This would be an end product PN  optimization choice determined by your product's validation testing & requirements.
