AM625: About DSS (Display Subsystem) of AM62x

Genius 5900 points
Part Number: AM625
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM623

Hi experts,

There is a difference between AM625x and AM623x with/without GPU, but I understand that both of them support Linux and can display screens.

Is it correct that as for the difference between with and without GPU, does it mean that 3D polygon display is not possible?
Or is it simply that the processing is slower because the 3D polygons are done on the CPU side due to the without GPU?

For the AM62xx evaluation board, is there an LCD that can be connected to the LCD connector?
(For example, the LCD kit for AM57xx can be used.)

Best regards,
O.H

  • Hello,

Yes, the main difference is AM623 does not have a GPU while AM625 has a GPU. With regards to 3D polygons, you could use the CPU to render the pixels but the performance maybe be slower than the GPU depending on the complexity of the 3D scene.

Currently, the LCD kit is not available on ti.com and based on my internal discussion, we will be publishing the kit information on ti.com in the next 1-2 months.
