CCSTUDIO: composer inquiry

Part Number: CCSTUDIO
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-EXP430G2ET

Hi Experts,

Our customer was asking for technical support for Code Composer Studio.
He downloaded CCS version 8.3.1.00004 and running this on a Windows 10 pro OS.

When he tries to download and install the demo for MSP-EXP430G2ET CCS displays "Confirmation - This will install undefined -v:3.80.14.01 in ....the assigned folder".
After he answer "yes", it attempts to download but then quits after 10% and displays "This package is not supported on your OS."

He is asking why isn't it allowing him to run load and install the demo for this Launchpad? He has not attempted to load and install any other Launchpad demo yet on this version of CCS.

We hope to receive your advice. Thank you.

Best regards,

Gerald

  • Sorry, I haven't meet this problem before. I would ask customer try to use the latest CCS.

  • Please see below for customer feedback:

"Yes before I received your latest response, I installed Version: 10.4.0.00006.

After downloading and installing some updates this version is running with my MSP-EXP430G2ET Launchpad kit!
What I noticed was that with this version it detected the Launchpad connected to USB port. I didn't see this on the earlier versions I've tried ( V5 and V8).
Some other nuances I've noticed is that with this version (not sure if it's due to a setting on CCS) but when I run "Debug" it doesn't automatically start the execution (run) of the compiled code. To run I need to hit the "run" button.  Not a problem as long as it's consistent.
I may try the latest version as your colleagues have suggested to have a smoother experience.
Reason I used the earlier version was to try to follow along with a tutorial book I have that uses CCS version 5 with GRACE.."
    Thank you and kind regards,
