DRA714: MPU recommendaton for VESS (Virtual Engine Sound System)

According to TI reference design guide, DRA714 has been introduced as a processor for VESS project.

A customer considers to choose DRA714 as their new platform for VESS platform. 

If DRA71x can be the best recommendatuon for VESS project. Please provide us with DRA71x roadmap material for customer presentation.

And also let us know the alternatives of DRA71x with Automotive qualified if the new solution comes up with..




  • FYI, 

    Automotive grade part is not mandatory. Customer considers to use AM6231. 

    Minimum requirements are CAN-FD and Audio Port.

    Please check if AM6231 can be applicable for VESS MPU.

  • AM62x family in 17x17 mm package offering is definitely an option. Do you know what are the OS requirements and whether AUTOSAR/MCALs are needed too

    AM62 has McASP ,which is the audio port, but for any  audio algos for VESS customer would need to have their own solutions or look at Cortex A53 open source solutions. 

    Alternatively if they prefer an MCU like option, they can also evaluate AM273x famly - i need to check on which version of this has McASP (it is referenced in pinmux but not in features)

    Thanks for your kind answer.

    There's no OS requirement. They want a simple dev platform for VESS of E-Bike.

    Hence we suggested them with AM6231 and AM2732. They prefer AM2732 like, But AM6231 has the better price range. and their EVSE team use the same AM6234 platform.
