I have a SDK's for the 6713, 6455, 642, and 6467.

I need a jtag programmer for the boards that do not have it buit in (like the 6713 DSK).

Which model should I buy? I started looking at all the various ones and they say "Not compatible with the DSK/eZdsp/EVM Tools versions of Code Composer Studio" so Now I'm confused.

    Any stand alone emulator you purchase will require you to have the full version of Code Composer Studio (TMDSCCSALL-1 listed here). The versions of CCS included with a DSK\EVM that are referred to by that note are limited to be used on the EVM\DSK hardware that they are included with and so cannot work with a stand alone emulator. For starters I would typically recommend the XDS510USB from Spectrum Digital seen here.

    To add to what Bernie said this disclaimer refers to the driverless image of CCS that comes with DSKs and some EVMs. The term driverless means that you cannot install drivers for any other emulator. This means that when you install that copy of CCS it will only function with the board with which it came.
