Hi Olof,
The Linux kernel driver does NOT support the 9-bit UART operation mode.
#define UART_LCR_WLEN5 0x00 / Wordlength: 5 bits /
#define UART_LCR_WLEN6 0x01 / Wordlength: 6 bits /
#define UART_LCR_WLEN7 0x02 / Wordlength: 7 bits /
#define UART_LCR_WLEN8 0x03 / Wordlength: 8 bits */
The above lengths are supported.

Keerthy
We would need the 9th bit only to flag/frame new packets, if that help find a solution.
Olof,
Okay. To make a distinction the hardware does support but there is no software support for this mode. Currently there is no plans of adding this.

Keerthy
