TMS320C6424: Connecting the TMS320C6424 to other CPU

Part Number: TMS320C6424

Hi Team,

Can you please help us with this concern of our customer?

In our design the DSP is communicating with the main CPU through the ETH connection.

The DSP is connected to a PHY using the MII interface, and the DSP's PHY is connected to the CPU's PHY.

I would like to ask please if the two PHYs can be connected to each other without the need of transformer ("transformer-less" connection) between them, in our design the CPU and the DSP are both on the same PCB and connected to the same power domain (3.3V).

Regards,

Danilo

  • Hello Danilo,

TMS320C6424 is a pretty old part. As per the banner on the product page, we no longer provide any design support for this part number: https://www.ti.com/product/TMS320C6424

Basically, nobody on our team has any hardware or software expertise on this part any more. Pretty much all I can do is point you to the documentation on the product page.

If the customer is working on a new design, we can suggest newer parts if needed where we can provide design support.

    Regards,

    Nick
