AM3356: AM3356: Max power consumption

Part Number: AM3356

Hello TI Team,

According to Datasheet Table 5-10. Maximum Current Ratings at AM335x Power Terminals, the current consumption at 3.3V is shown below.

Voltage SUPPLY NAME MAX UNIT
3.3V VDDA3P3V_USB0 40 mA
VDDA3P3V_USB1 40 mA
VDDSHV1 50 mA
VDDSHV3 50 mA
VDDSHV5 50 mA
VDDSHV6 100 mA
VDDSHV2 50 mA
VDDSHV4 50 mA
Total 430 mA

I am trying to design a 3.3V supply with a 300mA LDO, could this be a problem?
The IO pins will not be connected to the maximum.

Best Regards,

Kim

  • Hello Kim,

    Thank you for the query.

Agree that the power consumption mentioned in the datasheet is the max and the actual consumption could be lesser.

We do not have data to answer your question if 300mA would work. Also i do not have an estimate of the current that the design could consume since i am not familiar with the planned architecture.

You might find package compatible LDOs with different current ratings.

I would suggest planning for a LDO with the current rating that matches the datasheet and optimize based on testing.
