AM62A3-Q1: UART BOOT MODE

Part Number: AM62A3-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM62A3, AM62A7

Hi TI expert,

We want to use UART as our boot method. I see UART0 on TRM, please check this UART0 has a clear PIN# distribution?

How about the UART0 below as the boot interface to AM62A3?

Thank you,

Best regards,

Haiming.Qu

  • Hi Haiming-sama,

    Thanks for your query.

Please correct me on my understanding of your query. It goes as follows.

So basically you want me to check if the pins for UART0 RXD and TXD are not reserved or used for some other purpose ?

Also can you clarify as to if you are trying to work on PSDK/Linux or you are working with MCU+ SDK ?

Please acknowledge the above two questions of mine, post which I am going to throw light on my views.

    Regards,

    Vaibhav

  • Hi Vaibhav,

    Thanks for your reply.

It will work for Automotive. So it will work on AutoSar OS.

I captured a figure in TRM and paste it below. I just want to know what's the specified UART# it is.

    Thank you,

    Best regards,

  • Hi Haiming,

I got the below information from Silicon Errata:

Please find the above as well from this link: www.ti.com/.../sprz544.pdf

Looks like a workaround would be to use another boot interface.

Meanwhile you comment on the above, allow me sometime to check if this has been fixed in a patch or not.

    Regards,

    Vaibhav

  • Hi Vaibhav,

From the information you have pasted, does it mean that the UART boot will not be supported?  If so, there will be some difference with the description of TRM.

How about your opinion, or any updated from your side?

    Thank you,

    Haiming.Qu

  • Hi Haiming,

Most probably this has not been implemented as a workaround, but I will let another team member comment on this.

Please wait for a day or two. Thanks for your patience.

    Regards,

    Vaibhav

  • Hi Haiming,

Yes, the advisory i2371 exists on current AM62A7 devices, UART boot may hang due to this issue.
