PROCESSOR-SDK-AM62X: Camera Video Capture

Part Number: PROCESSOR-SDK-AM62X

Hi Team,

Does TI-AM62X starter kit support any hardware encoder to capture video recording from camera ?

I have integrated ar1335 (UYVY format) camera module on TI-AM62X starter kit and able to see the camera preview.

I want to record video using gstreamer commands.

Could you please point out the right way to capture video with maximum bandwidth ?

Regards,

Ajith Kumaresh S.

  • Hi Ajith,

    AM62x doesn't have a HW accelerator for video encode/decode.

AM62A family of processors have HW accelerator that support video encode and decode upto 4K@ 30fps.

If you are looking to encode then you would have to use the libav (ffmpeg) software codec gstreamer plugins on AM62x.

    Hope this helps.

    Best Regards,

    Suren

  • Hi Suren Porwar,

    Thanks for your info.

Could you please point out the way to install ffmpeg in am62x kit

  • Hi Ajith,

Can you check the below command on your setup?

    gst-inspect-1.0 | grep libav

If you find the avdec_<codecs> or avenc_<codecs> as the output of the command, then ffmpeg libav codec plugins are part of the SDK release.

You can use them and create gstreamer pipelines to verify software based encoding/decoding.

    Best Regards,
