AM5749: Processor with inbuilt 3D-GPU. and 2/4 cores.

Hi

We are in process of selecting a processor with inbuilt 3D-GPU. and 2/4 cores , Which can give simultaneous output data on two Monitors ( XGA- 1024×768, and VGA 768x576 )

We have selected two processors from series AM6252[ dual core] and AM6254 [quad core]

We have below queries for both processors type series.

1> From 3D graphics ==> can DMA channel function simultaneously for both displays?

2> Can these 3d gpu processors generate 2 simultaneous video ouputs with different resolutions ? e,g, XGA and VGA?

3> If resolution is settable for both display outputs ? e.g. through any register settings? [xga 1024×768 and vga 768x576 ]

4> Is Text overlay possible with 3D graphics video , on both the displays simultaneously ?

5> OpenGL2.0 can render 15 fps frame rate ?

6> Can it be used in Medical Devices? e.g. Class-1


We have also selected dual GPU processor AM574X

We have below queries for this processor type series.

1 > OpenGL2.0 can render 15 fps frame rate ? 

2> If resolution is settable for all 3 LCD panel display outputs ? e.g. through any register settings? [xga 1024×768 and vga 768x576 ]

3> Is Text overlay possible with 3D graphics video , on all 3 LCD displays simultaneously ?

    I can help with the AM57x query, I'll try to give the general answer that applies to GPU's in general.

    Yes, but this is highly dependent on the application. The API does not matter in this case, just the complexity of the application. Larger resolutions, many textures and large vertex counts will affect the performance.
