66AK2H14: SoC based custom design with MT29F1G08ABBFAH4-ITE:F NAND flash

Part Number: 66AK2H14

Hi all,

Did someone succeeded to make MT29F1G08ABBFAH4-ITE:F NAND flash work with any C66x design?

Our design is based on 66AK2H14 SoC and MT29F1G08ABBFAH4-ITE:F NAND flash (has 8-bit internal ECC always enabled and seems like requires 8bit additional ECC).

On the other hand, the NAND controller of AMC543 doesn’t support 8bit ECC, and maximum that it can support is 4bit ECC (https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/sprugz3a/sprugz3a.pdf?ts=1692038256588&ref_url=https%253A%252F%252Fwww.google.com%252F).

Previously we were using MT29F1G08ABBDAH4-IT:D flash instead of it (requires 4bit ECC).

Now the question is what the NAND flash datasheet actually means?

If it does have an internal 8bit ECC, does this still mean that NAND controller has to provide 8-bit ECC as well or it can leave without an additional ECC?

Is it safe to disable the controller’s ECC completely and rely only on internal 8-bit ECC ?

Identical issue has been reported in the following thread but didn't solved:

https://e2e.ti.com/support/processors-group/processors/f/processors-forum/1052696/tms320dm6446-dm6446-nand-support.

Also I reported this in TI E2E forum previously which was closed automatically without any certain suggestion:
