[FAQ] AM625 / AM623 / AM620-Q1 / AM625-Q1 / AM625SIP Custom board hardware design – Ferrite (power supply filter) recommendations for SoC supply rails

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM62A7-Q1, AM625-Q1, AM620-Q1, AM62A3, AM62P-Q1, AM62A7, AM62P, AM625SIP, AM62A3-Q1, AM625, AM623, AM62D-Q1

Hi TI Experts,

I have the below queries regarding use of ferrite for the SoC supply rails.

1. Do you have recommendations on using ferrite (power supply filters) for the SoC supply rails

2. Do you have some recommendations to optimize the number of ferrites used

3. I do not want to use any ferrites in my design. Do you have some recommendations

4. Are these recommendations valid for other Sitara processor

Let me know your thoughts.

  • Hi Board designers,

Refer below inputs for Ferrite (power supply filter) recommendations

    1. Do you have recommendations on using ferrite (power supply filters) for the SoC supply rails

Refer SK-AM62B-P1 starter kit (SK) evaluation module schematics for ferrite recommendation.

    2. Do you have some recommendations to optimize the number of ferrites used

Based on requests from multiple customer, we update the ferrite recommendations.

Refer SK-AM62-LP AM62x starter kit (SK) evaluation module schematics for ferrite recommendation.

    https://www.ti.com/tool/SK-AM62-LP

    3. I do not want to use any ferrites in my design. Do you have some recommendations

We are reviewing the request. The recommendation is to generate a common filtered supply using L and C and connecting to all the analog supplies.

    4. Are these recommendations valid for other Sitara processor

The recommendations are valid for the following devices.

    AM644x, AM642x, AM641x, AM243x, AM625SIP, AM625-Q1, AM620-Q1, AM62A7, AM62A7-Q1, AM62A3, AM62A3-Q1, AM62P, AM62P-Q1
