DRA821U-Q1: functional safety of 5-port ethernet switch

Part Number: DRA821U-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRA821

I'm designing a mixed functional safety + Linux based system for an industrial application.  The MCU island on DRA821 has an Ethernet port, which is great.  DRA821 also has a 5-port switch on the main domain.  I need more than one Ethernet port in the safe domain- can I externally loop the MCU port to the 5-port switch and use that?  I guess I'm asking if the 5-port switch on its own can be made functionally safe when Linux is running in the main domain.

Or should I expect to have to use an external switch with some kind of safety rating for this?  (Does TI have such a switch?)

Thanks!

Joe
