[FAQ] SK-AM69: Booting from OSPI

Part Number: SK-AM69
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM69

I followed the steps on Processor SDK Linux for AM69 to boot from OSPI on SK-AM69 and I see the following message upon boot:

U-Boot SPL 2023.04-g756ba776d4 (Jul 13 2023 - 05:36:12 +0000)
EEPROM not available at 0x50, trying to read at 0x51
SYSFW ABI: 3.1 (firmware rev 0x0009 '9.0.6--v09.00.06 (Kool Koala)')
SPL initial stack usage: 13424 bytes
Trying to boot from SPI
SPL: failed to boot from all boot devices
### ERROR ### Please RESET the board ###

Do I need to do anything different for SK-AM69?

  • Hello,

    Raw image support must be enabled in u-boot. Modify configs/j784s4_evm_r5_defconfig and configs/j784s4_evm_a72_defconfig with the following two changes:

    CONFIG_TI_SECURE_DEVICE=n

    CONFIG_SPL_RAW_IMAGE_SUPPORT=y

    After these changes have been made, rebuild u-boot and copy to OSPI memory as outlined in the SDK documentation.

    Lastly, ensure that bootmode settings have been configured as Non-Volatile Flash (xSPI) before powering your board.

    Thank you,

    Fabiana
