AM625: Missing ti-connectivity wlxx firmware files

Where do I find ti-connectivity file wl18xx.3.auto and file wl18xx-conf.bin? I'm getting an error trying to load these two files during kernel initialization.

[ 2.087512] wlcore: ERROR could not get configuration binary ti-connectivity/wl18xx-conf.bin: -2

wlan0 does come up with wlcore default config, but it would be nice to get rid of these errors by having the correct ti-connectivity firmware loaded.

I am loading branch 09.01.00.008 for ti-linux-firmware (per instructions for building Beagleplay u-boot, which runs just fine finally), I don't see either file in this branch.

Hi Patricia,

If you run the "configure-device.sh" script in /usr/share/wl18xx/, you should be able to generate a wl18xx-conf.bin. You can find instructions on how to use the script here in section 4.1: www.ti.com/.../swru561a.pdf

I'm using Beagleplay board which has AM625 and WL18XX, very similar to the SK-AM62. Do the same instructions apply to the Beagleplay board too?

Hi Patricia,

Are you using Beagle's Debian or TI Processor SDK? I am not sure if the script is included in Beagle's Debian therefore you will have to add it and compile it in on your own. With the TI Processor SDK it should be included by default.

I am using Beagleboard.org gitlab for uboot and kernel. I'm using Buildroot for rootfs.

Hi Patricia,

In that case I am not sure if wlconf is default supported by buildroot, likely it is not supported. Therefore, you will need to manually install a wl18xx-conf.bin or compile wlconf.

There is a default conf file here which you can rename to "wl18xx-conf.bin" and install in /lib/firmware/ti-connectivity/. https://git.ti.com/cgit/wilink8-wlan/18xx-ti-utils/tree/wlconf
