Tool/software:

We are using Code Composer Studio v6.1.3 and attempting to run the XDS 560 Pro Trace emulator. The error is "license cannot be acquired."  I have ti_emupack_setup_5.1.636.0.exe which we used in the past but this errors when attempting to write dll files.  Is there an update or something else I should be doing to use this emulator?  Thanks.

  • Hello,

    Code Composer Studio v6.1.3

This old version requires a license file. We removed the license file requirement in later versions of CCS.

Is there a need to use such an old version? If so, then please see:

    https://www.ti.com/design-resources/embedded-development/ccs-development-tools/ccs-faq.html

Specifically the FAQ for where can I get a license for CCSv4, v5, v6?

    Thanks

    ki

  • Thanks for your prompt reply. I have that license file in C:\ti\license and CCS works fine to build code but when I try to use the XDS 560 Pro Trace emulator I get the license error.  Back when I first installed these tools there was a separate executable  ti_emupack_setup_5.1.636.0.exe to setup the emulator - but for some reason this is giving errors when attempting to copy dll files.  Maybe I need admin privleges?

Pro Trace support should come with the Spectrum Digital drives that ship with CCS. CCS 6.1.3 comes with TI emupack 6.0.222. Why are you install an older emupack on top of the CCS installation. I'm nit sure of your configuration.

Please note that you are using old and unsupported versions of the tools. I would highly recommend you move to a later version.
