I am not familiar with tam3517 but here is the difference between am3517 and am3517-evm.

AM3517-EVM is AM3517 Evaluation Module. Its a development kit platform that contains AM3517 processor chip and can be used to evaluate AM3517 features. It is manufactured by Logic PD. For details you may visit:
