AM5728: How to Enable PWM Mode on eCAP for AM5728 Board?

Hello,

I am currently working on an AM5728 board and trying to output PWM using the eCAP module in PWM mode. I am modifying the Big Data IPC example by directly configuring the register values to implement this.

To achieve this, I have configured the PWM registers, PRCM, and PinMux settings. However, the PWM output is not working as expected.

I am wondering if the AM57x boards have any key registers or unlock mechanisms for pad configuration and register access, similar to other TI processors?

Any guidance or examples would be greatly appreciated!

What SDK version are you using?

Unfortunately there have been many SW descopes and the BigDataIPC is one of them.

My SDK version is TI processor-sdk linux(+RTOS) am57xx 05.03.00.07.

This SDK version is pretty old and support for it will be very low. That being said, have you seen the PWM section on the SDK? https://software-dl.ti.com/processor-sdk-linux/esd/AM57X/08_02_01_00/exports/docs/linux/Foundational_Components/Kernel/Kernel_Drivers/PWM.html

Looks like you need a device driver for it in Linux.

Thank you for your reply. Currently, PWM register setting and implementation is being implemented through DSP's firmware. Is there any limitation to setting registers and implementing PWM in DSP?

I do not know if there are any limitations here, best thing to do is to look up if there actually exist a functional path.

If you look at Figure 2-1 you can ovbserve the PWM instances are connected via L4_PER2 interconnect:
