PROCESSOR-SDK-OMAPL138: Newest packages for OMAPL138

Unfortunately, we are going to be limited in the support we can provide here. OMAP-L138 is now old enough that we can no longer provide hardware or software design support, even for the latest SDK 6.3 versions of the Linux SDK and the TI-RTOS SDK. You already found the PROCESSOR-SDK-OMAPL138 page which has those SDKs, but I'll link here as well as the notification of no more support:

The best I can offer is the FAQ linked in that e2e notice. There are some IPC FAQs there:

You may be able to find more information by searching around the e2e forums. I usually do a google site search, like this:

Keep in mind there is a difference between our ability to offer design support, and our ability to continue producing parts in our factories. OMAP-L138 still has a product status of "Active". I could be wrong, but last time (last year in october?) I checked for a possible replacement, I didn´t find anything that provides us with an ARM, DSP and 2 PRU´s. Am I out of date with my research?

1) By DSP, I guess you are looking specifically for a C6 or C7 core, instead of an R5F core?

The OMAP-L138 PRU subsystem was pretty much our earliest version of the PRU subsystem - it didn't have nearly as many features as the later PRU devices in AM335x and later (I've been supporting PRU for 8 years now, but I've never programmed the PRU on OMAP-L138. The processors I've written PRU code for are listed here, and some of those also are no longer supported: https://git.ti.com/cgit/pru-software-support-package/pru-software-support-package/tree/examples).

2) What are you using that PRU subsystem for? I wonder if this needs a PRU subsystem specifically to work, or if a sufficiently powerful RTOS/bare metal core would be sufficient (off the top of my head I can't remember if OMAP-L138 benefitted from the same PRU GPI / PRU GPO latencies that later PRU devices utilize: https://e2e.ti.com/support/processors-group/processors/f/processors-forum/1269989/faq-what-is-a-pru-core-why-are-pru-gpio-signals-different-from-regular-gpios )

3) What OS are you looking to run on the ARM core?

I have followed the instructions so far and set up a typical sys/bios template project from TI.
For a J-TAG, I am using a old XDS100V2 I inherited and through verification procedures of CCS 9.3 seems to be working fine.

But everytime I try to Load the program though the JTAG device, I get this error:

I don´t know how to fix this yet, to get my code to successfully load on the evaluation board.

Also just that I mention it: I bypassed the other cores of the OMAP-L138 in the target configuration, because there is nothing to load on them for.

Please try the steps to create a CCS project in this FAQ:

If you still get those errors like "Error while executing OnTargetConnect()", it might be a CCS setup issue. Please open a new thread and use Code Composer Studio as the part number. The thread will be routed to our CCS tool team.
