SYSBIOS: SYSBIOS

Part Number: SYSBIOS
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OMAP-L138, , OMAP-L137

Tool/software:

Hello everyone,

due to the upcoming legislation of EUs CRA (Cyber Resilience Act), alot of people are forced to migrate to newer software parts of very functional, not falsely behaving products. However updates at times will partly break the product.

Therefore we are forced to update an application, which uses the OMAP-L138, where we use the ARM, DSP and the two PRUSS. We are semi reliant on the ARM and are looking for alternatives to Linux. As such we obviously came across TI-RTOS, which is not available for the ARM, but the Kernel SYSBIOS seems to be.

Since everyone in the EU will in the forseable future be forced to run the latest versions of each and has to be able to update anytime, we are trying to find out, if SYSBIOS will make us CRA compliant.

So the questions for us are as following:

  1. If there will be Vulnurabilities or security breaches detected, will TI provide updated versions of SYSBIOS for the OMAP-L138, after CRA compliance is obligatory?
  2. Is SYSBIOS, as TI-RTOS-Kernel, still a "active" product? Are there still plans in the future for it?
  3. If TI-RTOS, as such also SYSBIOS, is or will be deprecated soon or in the future, is or will there be a successor for the OMAP-L138.
  4. Same as third question, but applied for all the processors of newer SoCs.

Thank you in advance

Jerry

  • Hi Jerry,

SYSBIOS is not an active product any more. Please refer to this announcement.

  • Hi Jianzhong,

thank you for letting me know. The announcement also tells about the linux development for the omap-l138. Can you please tell me for how long the linux support for this processor is planned? Next to the announcement you posted the link for, this is an important information for me and everyone using the omap-l138 in regards to CRA.

Thank you very much in advance.

  • Hello Jerry,

I have updated the last sentence of that e2e thread to say "Please note that this announcement only applies to TI-RTOS SDKs. TI will continue to support and update Linux SDKs for AM335x & AM437x." Apologies for any confusion.

SDK 6.3 / Linux kernel 4.19 was the last Linux SDK release for OMAP-L137/OMAP-L138 & K2G. TI has no plans to release another Linux SDK for these parts.

Linux SDK 6.3 was released almost 5 years ago now, so it is too old for us to answer questions about that software on the forums.

    Regards,

    Nick
