[FAQ] DRA821U-Q1: How to enable RGMII2 Interface from CPSW5G on TI EVM from U-Boot?

Part Number: DRA821U-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRA821

Tool/software:

How do I enable the RGMII2 connection from the CPSW5G Ethernet switch on the DRA821-Q1 SoC (TI EVM) in U-Boot?

  • Out of the Box, on DRA821, only CPSW2G is enabled in U-Boot, while CPSW5G remains disabled.

To enable CPSW5G  (RGMII2 interface) in U-boot, the following steps are needed.
    1) Disable CPSW2G device tree nodes and enable CPSW5G nodes in the dts files.
    2) Add pinmux configuration for CPSW5G RGMII2 and MDIO lines in the device tree files.
    3) Since CPSW5G RGMII2 is routed via the GESI Expansion card, enable required pin hogs and probe the driver.

A patch is provided for TI SDK 10.1 to enable CPSW5G RGMII2 support in U-Boot.
