Hi All,

http://www.ti.com/tool/dm36xcodecs website says "Free, object code with production licensing" for MP3 Encoder, Version 3.5.00. Can anyone explain what exactly is a production licensing ?

1. If we use this codec in our product and sell our product, any license guidelines is applicable or not ?

2. Is it a GPL ?

3. Any guidance document is available for this ?

    Hi,

    The codec is free to use, meaning that you don't have to pay anything to TI for using the codec. However you need to consult with your legal department to check if you need  any special licensing with standard bodies or the entity that owns patents for this IP (MP3). There may be other terms and conditions in the clickwrap license of the codec. which you can read prior to installing the codec.
