DownloadUtility.exe won't start

This has got to be something really simple.  When I run DownloadUtility.exe, I get a window that says:

"The application failed to initialize properly (0xc00000022). Click on OK to terminate the application."

No clue as to what it's looking for.

This is the executable straight out of SDK-02.01.01.08.

I've tried running the .exe from the command line (with numerous parameters such as -?, --help, etc.) and by clicking on the .exe file in explorer.  No joy anywhere.

Anyone else seen this?  Is DownloadUtility.exe dependent on some .net thingy?  There are a couple .dll files in the same directory - CommunicationInterface.dll and CoreEngine.dll - do those need to be installed somewhere?

Thx.

  • If I recall correctly (it's been a while since I went thru OMAP35x Getting Started Guide), the GSG instructs you to copy a directory to your Windows XP manchine; you need to copy the entire directory per the GSG.  I remember I tried to diverge from the instructions and only copied part of the directory suggested by GSG and had problems with download utility.  When I copied the entire directory as suggested by GSG, all worked well.

  • Well, under "Requirements", the GSG lists:

"SDK contents copied from the LInux PC.  It is recommended to copy all the contents under folder OMAP35x-PSP-SDK-MM.mm.pp.bb"

It doesn't say where to copy the directory to.  So in theory, I'd assume that where you copy it to doesn't matter.

I had originally downloaded to both my Windows and Linux PC, and unzipped separately on each machine.  But I tried copying the stuff over from from Linux to Windows just to be sure.  No joy.  Same results.

  • So I got a little sidetracked by another project the last month or so.  I copied the 4 files (DownloadUtility.exe, the two .dlls, and the .ini) to my Windows desktop and now DownloadUtility comes up.  Wierd.

Next problem - while it comes up, DownloadUtility is not presenting me with any options for Transport Mode.  I tried specifying my com port (COM4, which I've verified is inactive) in the .ini by setting UART=4, that didn't help.

    Anyone seen this problem before?

    Thx,

    Ken

  • Place your downloadutility in the same folder where GSG says it should be.

But I'm having another problem. I cannot download the image onto the board as the GSG suggests. When I press the download button, dialouege box says that press OK and then restart your EVM. When I do that, it says, unknown error occured while downloading. If I press the warm-reboot button, nothing happenes...

    Please help
