CCSv6 create new project for target MSP430G2432 fails

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430G2432

Just installed CCSv6 (previously had CCSv5.X). I now have a problem trying to create a new Grace project for

a MSP430G2432 target. I have all the latest updates for CCSv6. The host is running Windows 8.1.

Here are my steps:

Selected File->New->CCS Project.

In CSS Project window set Target: -> MSP430G2432

  Connection: {did not change from TI MSP430 USB1 [Default] }

  Set Project Name: EM4325_tag

  Project templates and Examples: Selected "Empty Grace (MSP430) Project

  Clicked "Next" button.

At top of next popup dialog is:

RTSC Configuration Settings

None of the currently selected products supplied the Target. Please specify the Target manually, or try using a pre-3.30 version of XDCtools.

I probably missed a checkbox on something during the installation of CCSv6. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

leon

  • Leon,
    which version of XDCtools and Grace are you using? Try going to Window->Preferences->Code Composer Studio->RTSC and select Grace, then OK. Does that help?

  • I have XDCtools versions 3.30.1.25_core, 3.25.4.88 & 3.25.3.72.

    I tried selecting Window->Preferences->Code Composer Studio->RTSC to be "Grace(MSP430)". I also tried selecting, individually versions 2.20.2.32 and 2.20.1.12 of "Grace(MSP430). Neither of these worked when trying to create a new Grace project.

    Also in Window->Preferences->Code Composer Studio->RTSC I tried each of the three versions of XDCTools Versions. Non allowed me to create the new Grace project.

    In Addition I noticed  Window->Preferences->Code Composer Studio->Grace had a checkbox "Enabled Grace Developer Features". This was not checked so I checked it. Still could not create new Grace Project.

    Thanks for you continued help.

  • I think the best way out of that problem is to update Grace. Go to View->CCS App center, and then click on "See More" next to Code Composer Studio Add-ons, and then select the Grace update, and then Install software. That should install Grace 3 and XDCtools 3.30.03. Then go to Preferences and select these versions. Can you try that?

    This thread explains why Grace 2.20 is not working well in CCS 6: http://e2e.ti.com/support/embedded/tirtos/f/355/t/354453.aspx
