Can I get a summary of the differences between the TMS320VC5409 and TMS320VC5409A?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320VC5409A

Hi Champs,

I'm planning to use TMS320VC5409APGE16 because of TMS320VC5409PGE100 EOL.
So, I'd like to get a summary of the differences between the TMS320VC5409 and TMS320VC5409A.
Could you please let me know the summary of the differences?

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Best regards,

  • Hi,

This is quite an old part and I could locate any document which presents exact difference between these two parts. But based on the datasheet reference, below is the major difference that I identified. The major difference is in package, FP execution time & power supply.

    C5409A

    C5409

    On chip Peripherals

    Enhanced external parallel interface (XIO2)

    Packaging :

144-Pin Ball Grid Array (BGA) (GGU Suffix)

144-Pin Low-Profile Quad Flatpack (LQFP) (PGE Suffix)

    Packaging :

Available in a 144-Pin Plastic Thin Quad

Flatpack (TQFP) (PGE Suffix) and a 144-Pin

Ball Grid Array (BGA) (GGU Suffix)

    Fixed point execution time:

    6.25-ns Single-Cycle Fixed-Point Instruction

    Execution Time (160 MIPS)

    8.33-ns Single-Cycle Fixed-Point Instruction

    Execution Time (120 MIPS)

    Fixed point execution time:

    12.5-ns Single-Cycle Fixed-Point

    Instruction Execution Time (80 MIPS)

    Power Supply

    3.3-V I/O Supply Voltage (160 and 120 MIPS)

1.6-V Core Supply Voltage (160 MIPS)

1.5-V Core Supply Voltage (120 MIPS)

    Power Supply

    1.8-V Core Power Supply

    1.8-V to 3.6-V I/O Power Supply Enables

Operation With a SIngle 1.8-V Supply or

    With Dual Power Supplies

Hope this helps. If I find any related document I would update again here.

Also, recommend you to consider other C55xx newer devices ( if its feasible).

    Regards

     Vasanth

  • Hi Vasanth,

Thank you for your useful information.
Actually, one of my customers asked the differences and he does not want to migrate to C55xx.
