TMS320C6742: TMS320C6742 BSDL files

Part Number: TMS320C6742

Recently, I've faced an issue with TMS320C6742.

I've found BSDL files at http://www.ti.com/product/TMS320C6742/toolssoftware, but all downloadable files contain some errors, for example:

  • There is no description for pin U12, which is used by me, in all files.

  • There are some pin names, like «AXR015_EPWM0TZ0_ECAP2APWM2_GP07: inout bit;», which are too big for BSDL files, and they cannot be used - I see many errors while checking BSLD files using different online tools.

Could you please help me to resolve these issues? Maybe there are newer versions somewhere?

  • Hi Nikolay,

I've forwarded this to the design team. Their feedback should be posted here.

  • Nikolay,

We have verified that U12 pin is missing in all the BSDL files. I have requested the team to include this pin in BSDL. I will keep you posted on the update.

Meanwhile, could you help us know the maximum string length (pin name) which is allowable for BSDL file ?

    Regards,
    Senthil
  • According to different BSDL file check utilities, it couldn't be more than 28 symbols long.
Unfortunately, I couldn't check it directly in x1149 standard, as it needs royalty to be paid before.

So, you plan to refresh BSDL files, correct?
  • Nikolay,

Thanks for the details. We are working with the BSDL team to get this corrected. I will update you soon.

  • Nikolay,

The pin U12 (DDR_ZP) is an analog input pin meant for external resistor connection to ground. Since this pin is not connected in Freon’s boundary scan chain, you can ignore this pin. We will not get any coverage for this pin because it is not on Freon’s boundary scan chain. And for all Analog pins (such as power and ground pins …etc) will not have boundary scan cell associated with them.

There are some old BSDL tools might complain about the pin names that are longer than 20 characters. We looked into this BSDL file, there is no pin name that is longer than 20 characters. Please figure out which name that it is complaining about, then shorten it accordingly. REMEMBER, if you do this, make sure you change the name for all location on this bsdl file, several places, otherwise you will get syntax error.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,
    Senthil
