TMS320VC5407: Customizing the contents in the on-chip ROM

Hi, there

We want to differentiate the C5407 chip at least for each batch. The only way we can bring up is to put a serial number into the on-chip ROM because no such register is found.

The data sheet says: "Customers can also arrange to have the ROM of the 5407/5404 programmed with contents unique to any particular application." It seems possible to get it done.

However, there is no detailed info on the procedure, the cost, and the person to contact.

I'm wondering if someone can give me some light on the path to pursuit this.

This is an old device, and the datasheet seems to be from 2008. We no longer t support custom ROMs any more on any of the c54x or c55x family for new customers.
I am double checking with program engineering team to confirm this specifically for this device family. However for all practical purposes, I would recommend evaluating using the device or alternatively the newer c55x devices, without a custom ROM route.

Or, specific for tms320vc5407, is there any hidden place that can be used for differentiate the chips batch to batch?

I apologize for being brief here, for these legacy devices if it is not in the documentation then we do not have the ability to publish or provide additional guidance.
I doubt there is any intended register that will allow differentiating chip to chip or batch to batch and be software readable.
There are potentially some device id registers that may be there , but if they exist on this class of device , they will be for TI internal test purpose and not for customer use.
For newer devices, I provided some guidance on this , e.g. you can look at the following thread

However for c5407 , if it does not existing in the datasheet or user guides, we will not be support anything that may exist internally in design docs.

I did get a confirmation from product engineering that the infrastructure to support a custom ROM for this family of devices no long exists and is not supported.
I will evaluate if the datasheet should be updated to reflect this. Regret any confusion on this due to old documentation.
