SM320VC33-EP: SM320VC33PGEA150EP

Part Number: SM320VC33-EP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320VC33,

Is the 150EP version of this part still in production?  We use it on an existing board and we want to design it into a new board, but I can only find the -120 version of the part through the TI store and distributors.

  • Randy,
It was obsoleted back in November of 2015 and is no longer available.
I am uncertain of the circumstances of the obsolescence. I can provide your contact information to our marketing team. They can possibly research if it is feasible to resurrect this device and get back with you. Would you like me to do this?
I can get your email information from the system.

    Regards,
    Wade
  • Thank you Wade,

Yes I would like to follow up with your marketing teams.  It seems that there is a difference between the SM320VC33PGEA150EP and the TMS320VC33PGEA150EP but I don't know the difference except that the distributors (Digikey) have 8,000 in stock of the TMS part and 0 of the SM.

It appears that the TMS version's status is Not For New Design but is still available.  Since we use about 1000 of these a years, I need to know when they are projected to go to End Of Life.

So yes, please pass on my contract information to your marketing team!

    Thanks again,

  • Mark, I have passed your information on. Expect a reply soon.
    Regards,
    Wade
  • Would like to talk to a sales rep on the projected availability of the TMS320VC33-EP.
  • Mark,
If you are looking for the longevity of the TMS version, please post another thread using that device.
The SM and TMS version are supported by different groups.
Our High Rel marketing will contact you with respect to possible resurrection of the SM version.
I am marking this post as TI thinks resolved, as the remainder will be handled via email.

    Regards,
    Wade
  • Sorry,
I forgot the TMS version was EP. They will discuss both the SM extended version, and the TMS EP version when they contact you.
    No reason to repost.

    Regards,
    Wade
  • Randy,
I went to follow up with this, and realized that you had the wrong part number TMS320VC33-EP, and TMS320VC33PGEA150EP.
    Neither of these parts exist.
There is an SM320VC33PGEA120EP that is currently an active part and will continue to be for the foreseeable future.

Please elaborate on what device you are searching for longevity. If it is EP, then we can answer here.
If it is for the TMS version that is NRND, then please re-post using that part number. It will get directed to the correct people.

Also, there is an active 150Mhz version in a military temp range: www.ti.com/.../ if that is helpful.

    Regards,
    Wade
  • his is very puzzling to me. It appears that he TMS320VC33 does indeed exist.

    www.ti.com/.../TMS320VC33

    Thoughts?

    Randy

  • Agreed, it does.
It is NRND, and not an -EP version. If you need information on its obsolescence plan, you can create a new E2E post a using it as the part number. It will get directed to the correct people. You selected the SM320VC33-EP, so the post was routed to the High reliability team.
    Regards,
    Wade
