AM3358-EP: Power Up initialisation Time

Part Number: AM3358-EP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3358,

I am having trouble finding the value of this,

I've seen info baacking it in tech ref here

and see clock start up times here

But cannot find the overall time of the power up sequence's intialisation.

Is there any figures on ti's side of testing this?

  • I am not certain what you are looking for.
Your links point to the full TRM and DS, and not to specific data so I am uncertain.

I suspect you are looking at the time required to execute the sequence for powering the device, and not a boot time.
This will depend on what is sequencing the supplies and the delays associated with it.
The TPS65217C is a power sequencer that can be used for this device. Its datasheet can be referenced for details on the delays associated.
Currently this device is not an EP device. However, it is being considered for EP roadmap.

  • Ah apologies it is section 8.1.8 Power-Up/Down Sequence in trm and section 6 in dataset.

However yes I would like to know both, sequencing for power the device. And boot time.

Have you got the info on the boot time? Can you point me to wher in AM3358 docs it is located.

You mentioned it will depend on power sequencer? By this do you mean it will be the same? Or is there an overhead and a small added delay from the AM3358-EP? Could you also link the datasheet to the sequencer please, and any other documentation that can help on this.

    Thank you

    Calex
  • The datasheet for the sequencer is located on TI.com.

I have asked someone to comment about boot times.
    What OS?

  • Hi,

Below are two links to a training presentation concerning boot time for Linux on Sitara processors which show the elements in a boot timeline.

Link to presentation from the beginning.

Link to portion of the  presentation concerning the AM3358.

While Linux is used as the OS in this presentation, some of the topics discussed are common to other Operating Systems.

    Best Regards,

    Schuyler
