Hi,

I have AM437x Starter Kit.

I imported "GPIO_LedBlink_skAM437x_armTestProject" example from "ti/pdk_am437x_1_0_13/packages/MyExampleProjects"

to make the code run, I did the following operations :

Launch Selected Configuration -> Connect Target (Cortex A9) -> Load GEL Files (sk_am437x.gel) -> Script -> AM43xx System Initialization -> AM43xx_SK_EVM_Initialization

Then Run -> Load -> Load Program (GPIO_LedBlink_skAM437x_armTestProject.out)

I wonder,

Do i have to load GEL file and run Initialization script to make example run properly ?

Why does not run example directly?

GEL file is for hardware initialization. A GEL file is basically a “batch file” that sets up the CCS debug environment including memory map, PLL, clock, etc. GPIO LED example is focused on GPIO settings, but before GPIO to be able to operate, you need to enable the GPIO clock.

For GPIO LED example, you do not need to run GEL file manually, the correct GEL file is auto executed when you connect to Cortex-A9 core. GEL file has OnTragetConnect() function.

Hi Pavel, Thanks for your answer.

You said "you do not need to run GEL file manually, the correct GEL file is auto executed when you connect to Cortex-A9 core" but when i try to load program, i get "load program error."

When i get this error message, i decided to load gel file automatically.

So why i get this error message ?

Mehmet,

When you create your target configuration file, do you select "sk_am437x" from the menu? When you connect to Cortex-A9 core, the sk_am437x.gel file should auto execute function OnTargetConnect() and you should see that on your CCS console window.

I did not choose board. only wrote AM4378
When i choose board SK_AM437x, GEL file automatically load!

Sorry, i have one more question.

If i want to run this example on our custom board, am i have to write gel file ?

How can i set up the CCS debug environment including memory map, PLL, clock, etc ?

For AM4378 custom board you need to choose AM4378 device. We include all of the SOC level files, like device XML, modules and register configuration and baseline onchip memory address definitions and other address regions but don`t link a GEL file to that CCS configuration. User can load their own GEL file for debug.
