SM320C40: SM320C40 IBIS model

Looking for 5V SM320C40 IBIS model

  • Pascal,

This question was just asked internally from the field.

We do not have an IBIS model for this device.  IBIS models were not common when this device was created.

  • Wade,

I understand that. Would be nice if we can at least get equivalent 5V model for the input and I/Os.

Can we use model: [Model]     ABT245B_AIO (from [File Name]     sn74abt245b.ibs) for the 5V I/Os of the smj320C40 ?

    regards,

    Pascal

  • Pascal,

You could use that model.  However, its suitability in matching the C40's output driver is not known.

A quick check can be made to evaluate driver output strength.  Doing this, it shows large disparity between the two devices.  The C40 has Ioh of 300uA, and IOL of 2ma to guarantee TTL levels on the outputs.   The ABT device has 32ma and 64ma respectively.  So, it is significantly stronger than the C40 based on this simple evaluation.

The drivers would have been developed on different processes and not sharing same design.

I recall that an external customer had found an early IBIS version of a TMS320C31 DSP.   Internally I could not find this model.

However, it is a 5V device with the same IO characteristics as the 320C40.

This can be used as a reference.  Note, that it is very old, and the file does not comply with IBIS syntax.  So, you will have to modify it some in order to get it to simulate.

    This can be found here:

Not all of the data is populated in the file.  Please sanity check your results with this file.

    Hope this helps.

    Wade

    Hopefully this will help.
