66AK2H06: 66AK2H06

Part Number: 66AK2H06

Hi

I have following queries..

1) How many MACs are there in 66AK2H06 ?

2) Are all are configurable ?

3) Is it possible for any device (connected at port 1) to exchange data with any other device (connected at port 2 / 3 / 4) without passing it through processor (i.e at port 0) ?

4) if it is possible (point 3 above), can we restrict it with the use of MAC IDs ?

Regards

  • Hello Abhishek,

Please check my answers to your questions below.

    1) How many MACs are there in 66AK2H06 ?

    They are 4 MACs.

    2) Are all are configurable ?

Yes. Each MAC has its own set of registers.

    3) Is it possible for any device (connected at port 1) to exchange data with any other device (connected at port 2 / 3 / 4) without passing it through processor (i.e at port 0) ?

Yes, you can use packet forwarding feature. The address lookup engine (ALE) processes all received packets to determine which

port(s) if any that the packet should the forwarded to.

    4) if it is possible (point 3 above), can we restrict it with the use of MAC IDs ?

The ALE uses the incoming packet received port number, destination address, source address, length/type, and

VLAN information to determine how the packet should be forwarded. So it is not MAC ID.

I believe you can find more useful information from this document:
