TMDX654GPEVM: OP-TEE development

Part Number: TMDX654GPEVM

Hi,

I need to do some TEE development on the AM6548 with OP-TEE, but I only found a reference to the HS version of the EVM after having ordered the GP EVM. Can I use OP-TEE with the TMDX654GPEVM or do I need the TMDX654HSEVM?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Jose

  • Hi Jose,

OP-TEE is also functional on the GP AM65x devices.

We usually only reference OP-TEE in documentation towards the HS device as HS enables the the use of secure hardware keys and some firewall management which is not fully available on GP, but outside of that all basic functions work and GP can be used for development with OP-TEE.

    Thanks,

    Andrew

  • Thank you Andrew, that is good news.

Just for my reference, can you point me to the documentation that you referred to, and particularly, any that explains the differences between the GP and HS devices?

Actually, if you are in contact with the relevant people, it might be worth passing the suggestion of making that information more readily available to prevent other people getting confused in the same way. The datasheet and TRM only seems to mention the HS to state that it enforces secure boot (section 6.4.1), which I thought was the only difference. And the AM6526 page does not show any HS variants of the silicon in the parametric family list, and it does not show the HS EVM either.

Thank you again for your support.

    Best regards,

    Jose

  • Hi Jose,

I was not referring to any one piece of documentation specifically, but rather our documentation strategy for HS devices in general. We start with the full TRM then break out anything HS specific into an HS addendum, which we give out when purchasing the HS variant, usually though a separate "MySecureSoftware" portal.

For this class of device the difference between an HS and GP is very minimal, mostly related to the keys efused into the device, without those on GP, secure boot is not enforced, as you've found in the documents.

The HS versions of the device are usually launched to the broader-market customers after we bring the non-HS versions out of pre-production stage, so they might not be available yet, which would explain the HS variants not being listed on all the family lists.

    Thanks,

    Andrew

  • Thanks Andrew! That clarifies :)
