AM5728: ADV7611 and TVP5150 configuration

hello

I have designed two video receiver boards for interfacing BT.656 or BT.1120 pixel bus with TMDSEVM572x board.

in one board I have used the chip TVP5150AM for converting PAL/NTSC video to BT.656 pixel bus and giving to EVM via VIN3A port (connector P9 on LCD module).

in other board I have used the chip ADV7611 at the same way, but for giving BT.1120 pixel bus to EVM via VIN3A port.

now, I do not know how should I change the SDK for making it complient to new video interfaces.

does anybody know how to do?

any help will be appreciated,

Hi,

You will need to modify your device tree. Take a look at the mt9t111.dtso and ov10635.dtso as examples of what you will need to implement. Both of these device tree overlay files are camera modules for the AM572x GP EVM, and should be helpful in terms of already using the available GPIOs and video port.

I will read and try the way you recommended.

is it possible to enable and initialize the input video chips (via I2C or any other interfaces such as SPI) in run time with C coding?

for example, can we write an application in linux and compile it with gcc to receive video frames from any VIN ports without manipulating the dts and device tree files

Hi Ali,

This should be possible - you basically need to create a userspace version of the existing kernel drivers for the two TI and ADI devices.

There are a few approaches for interfacing with I2C devices from userspace; here are two ideas:

I will try the approach that you told me.

is there any simple application for setting those ICs (TVP5150AM , ADV7611) and receiving video frames from it?

if I initialize these chips via I2C for appropriate output video standards (such as BT.656 or BT.1120), can I receive their pixel bus data from VIN3A (or any other ports) and use it in my gstreamer pipline? or do I need other configuration in system drivers?
