Hi,

my customer has a question about EMI Filter for TMS320C6415. The circuit example on page 67 of the data sheet describes the use of an EMI filter on the PLL input line. In Note D, `` TDK part number ACF451832-333, -223, -153, -103. Panasonic part number EXCCET103U. ''. However, the TDK model number is not recommended for new adoption, and the Panasonic model number has been discontinued. They want to select a long-term available EMI filter, would you please tell us such a filter model number?

    Hi M.Ohhashi,

    The devices listed in the data manual are the only devices tested with the part.  We don't have an update to that document.  I suggest you pull the data sheet for the TDK part number and find a device that has similar characteristics for our design.

    We searched the EMI filter which is similar spec of "TDK part number ACF451832-333, -223, -153, -103. Panasonic part number EXCCET103U" but we couldn't find it. At first glance, we could not find a filter with an insertion loss peaking at 30MHz in the frequency response in TDK and Panasonic. Does "a device with similar characteristics" mean an electrical characteristic or an insertion loss frequency characteristic? We would appreciate it if you would tell us the indicators for finding similar spec products.

    Hi M.Ohhashi,

    The filter components in question provided a convenient low-pass T type filter without using individual components.  Unfortunately these components did not become widely used are difficult to obtain.  In later EVMs we used a simple ferrite bead with capacitors for the same purpose. The goal is to filter the high frequency component of the noise to reduce the jitter introduced inside the part.  I can't provided you with an equivalent circuit to replace the filter components but you should be able to replace the part with a ferrite and a capacitor.
