TDA4VM: TDA4VM: SERDES1 defined for USB1, SS(super speed)

Hi,

The SERDES1 of TDA4VM is set to USB1 SS(super speed) port to support a external M.2 module. The M.2 module have the power by external BUCK.

How to set the USB1_VBUS, USB1_ID, USB1_DRVVBUS? Or keep it floating?

(P.S. USB1_HS(High speed) is floating)

Hi Stan,

We still need to pull down the USB1_ID to GND for HOST mode and USB1_DRVVBUS then can be shorted (via 0-ohm) USB1_VBUS, is it correct?

Correct. This should be ok as VBUS is not going to the other USB device.

Note that DRVVBUS can go to several device balls, most of them dual-voltage. Just make sure that ball is powered by 3.3V.

Because the the USB1_HS(High speed) is floating for this application, do we need to disable it by software setting?

I mean how to select to USB1_SS not USB1_HS? By S/W setting or...?

Evan,

Normally USB2.0/USB3.0 device recognition should be done automatically by the controller. In your specific case, however, USB2.0 data pins are floating and I'm not sure what can/should be done. I will check internally and get back to you.

USB connect/detect is performed on the USB3.0 pins first, therefore no need of any software update (nor it is possible, I think)
